Final Preparations.

With only a week to go I thought I'd try out our first blog entry! Just a boring entry about preparation. Anyway to ensure we can be self sufficient for at least 48 hours, as in the fridge, lights and water pump keep running without electric hookup. I replaced our faulty 105ah leisure battery with a larger 125ah one. After all no one should have warm beer on holiday.

Hexham and more wall

Just a few miles away and up on the wall itself is housesteads, another classical Roman fort, ie the same layout as vindolanda, built as one of the main wall ...

On our way out of Beadnell we stopped to look at the harbour and found a superb beach with views across to Dunstanton castle, and three lime kilns on the harbour wall. Then a few miles down the road we stopped to look at a Pele tower, built as a watch tower and ...

Took the scenic route on the A64 with the first stop Castle Howard. Vast gardens, dotted with lakes and fountains. Castle known for being in TV series Brideshead Revisited. We didn't go inside, but wandered around the beautiful grounds. Had lunch in the pretty little village of Hutton-Le-Hole on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Then on over the moors. Very, very pretty ...
