Getting cosy with the french

Well we landed here in Cosy Corner (east)after having visited the visitor centre in Albany. The help was good, however they did suggest paid accomodation. We decided to risk it at the free camping and we weren't disappointed, it was so cute, right next to the ocean and it also had toilets, although they weren't working at the time of our arrival. We moved our van in to a little corner of cosy corner and kind of blocked in a couple having dinner. They turned out to be a french ...

Albany

... we worked our way up the jagged coastline to Yallingup where we were nearly blown away in a howling gale - it was quite exciting.
We carried on up to Bunbury where we stayed in an old hotel. The receptionist looked just like Edna Everidge & when she spoke just like her, I nearly had hysterics.

We were going to stay another night further up the coast, but when you have seen one gale, you’ve seen them all – so we scuttled back to Perth.

Parry Beach Little Jem!!

... great bush camp with fill the boiler up with logs for a shower type of thing and real toilets. I feel i am really getting into this bush thing if i could only light the blasted fire to get the showers het up! Dani and Sean were here to and another few nights round fires and drinking wine once again. The mozzies have decided they quite like me and have taken great delight in biting my butt!

Esperance to Albany

... symbols will vary wildly and change frequently as X day approaches and then dawns, with weather unforeseen and inhabitants unprepared. I digress. Neither the weather nor it's forecasters have been kind to us of late, and the ominous grey of the sky seemed to suggest this wasn't going to change. The problem was not simply that we would prefer not to be washed out as we slept for a second time. We also needed the water feature in our tent to be removed by the evening ...

Albany

ALBANY (10-13 December 2008) One of the first things we did when we got here was do some washing and get some groceries, enough for the next 2.5 weeks. We stayed at the top tourist park which had 30 acres of land with beach frontage. It had a jumping pillow, playground, entertainment room and put-put golf to keep the kids amused. This was a welcome relief because they had been fighting quite a bit up til now and ...

Having a whale of a time in the tree-mendous SW

... black kites and a wild but almost always present whistling kite circling overhead and showing off their skill at grabbing chunks of meat in the air and from the ground without missing a beat. The highlight of the show was the opportunity to have one of the black kites, called Red Dog, sit on our arm and pose for photo's. Pretty groovy! The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk took us on an elevated path up to 40m high amongst the Red Tingle tree canopy. The lightweight, low impact ...

Make sure you say it right - the locals get funny!

... such a site had on wildlife, the staff and the local population when the site closed. After a coffee overlooking the penninnsular it started to rain (typical) so we headed back to the van and took a leisurely drive back via some points of interest. We visited what's known as the 'big gap' and 'natural bridge' which at the time also demonstrated the force of the sea as we were drenched with spray from the waves crashing on the rocks. We returned to ...

Too Many Girls

... population of WA live in and around Perth. The tour I was going on would take us all the way down to Albany, so we were still fitting in a fair few miles. And best of all, we'd be going through the Margaret River and loads of pretty little seaside towns to get there. So did I mention that I was now a member of Mallory Towers, the #1 boarding school for girls the world over? My Enid Blyton flight of fancy was extended further when we got picked up by ...

Porongurup

Consisting of a 670m high and 12km long range protruding from the plains, which is more than 1,400 million years old, Porogurup Range offers spectacular views. Close to the Stirling range, Porongurup could perhaps be seen as an alternative, which was less of a detour on our way to Albany. When we arrived, I asked what time the park closed, to which I was told, "whenever". So we headed ...
