Brisbane

On Saturday the 28th of April I felt ready to explore Brisbane. Brisbane is Australia's 3rd largest city with a population of 1.5 million. Yes the same as Dublin, but without the traffic and the hustle and bustle of a big city it feels more like Eindhoven :-) While I had been traveling to Brisbane I had heard allot of criticism about this city, people were saying that it's boring and that there is nothing to do there. I was determined to find something good about this city. I set off on a g...

Brisbane 2

The next day was Sunday and I was hungover. :-) It was the first room I stayed in that was even dark in the morning I stayed in bed until about 11:30. Lovely. I had lunch and watched some TV in the afternoon. Then it was time for a cure :-) I went down to the Tinbilly bar for a drink. I started talking to an oz man from Gympie. We was very interested in the stories I had to tell about Amsterdam. Later that day a couple sad down near me and on the girls t-shirt it said south Africa and I had t...

Tuesday started with a shopping trip to get sunhats and strong sunscreen for us.<br>In the afternoon we flew to Proserpine Airport on the Whitsunday Coast and caught the shuttle bus to the Coral Sea Resort at Airlie Beach. Some tidbits...

... I watched a little tv while eating brekky, worked on a report for my Marine Biology class, and emailed the UQ Union HR lady about jobs. -When Matt got home we took off for the Gold Coast to visit his mom and sisters who were in town. Genna had flown in from London where she currently resides, and Bec flew up for the visit as well. We had a delicious meal, complete with chocolate avocado pie and tea at the end of the night, and some good ...

... the edge of Brisbane. It is not especially curvy road, but it is a long upward climb thru the forest to the top of Mt. Coot-Tha. At the top of the mountain is a great viewing area of the entire city of Brisbane with it lush green trees and large river snaking thru the valley and out to the ocean. This all encompassing view reveals Brisbane or Brizzie as the locals fondly refer to their city. After all we are in Australia a country that loves to give nicknames to everything ...

After arriving in Brisbane we were met by Katherine parents, my parents, Lindsay and the kids. It was great when we came through the doors and the kids ran up to meet us. After our wonderful welcoming I went and picked up our dog Gator it was so great to see him and have some time around him. The next 6 days were very busy seeing our friends and family and running errands to make sure we could come back to Scotland.
