... out that just this week, Pakistan radicals were sending missiles into some bording towns near by. About 90% of the people are strict Muslims. ... from the oarsman but didn't get very far, he did point out lots of floating vege patches though and when we rounded the bend into Dal Lake I was reminded of the busy floating village on Boeung Sap in Cambodia. This is connected to the Tonle Sap which famously reverses flow each year in response to water levels in the lake.

There were no floating houses, temples, petrol stations etc on Dal Lake but there was a very busy trade in photo boats where ...

... fun to look and they are so polite and un-pushy! Dinner was a full Kashmiri meal tonight which everyone enjoyed again. And now I'm hoping for a better night's sleep as the noisy neighbours are gone: we have plug-in mosquito repellents operational as well as extra blankets for those who felt the cold last night. Plus I've dosed up the girls who have suffered slight runny noses. Now it's just the comforting sounds of life around the lake. ...

This wood timber mosque is adorned with Papier-mâché (French for "chewed paper"). The walls and ceilings are covered with it and decoratively painted in beautiful color combinations.
