It took about an hour of a bus ride to get to the self proclaimed soul of Asia from the airport. Surprisingly Seoul was not as full on, busy and hectic as we would have expected but it turned out to be very relaxed and it wasn't too hard to find our way around. The part of Seoul we were staying at was very central and lively. Koreans to not practise the bowing and politeness rituals as the Japanese, so after coming from Japan one could almost get the impression Koreans are rough. I wouldn't s...

We arrived in Seoul in the mid afternoon and checked into our hotel there, the Metro. A great hotel, clean and comfortable and located in the heart of Myeong-dong. The weather was nice, sunny and hot again. Our agenda for the next day and a half was some shopping, sight-seeing and our Taekwondo classes run by the Kukkiwon. That afternoon, we headed for the famous shopping precinct in Seoul, Myeong-dong. I love this area, everything is there. There are plenty of restau...

... the massive subway stations for breakfast. Once we arrived at our destination stop, we found a roadside cart that was selling "egg toast" - basically just your standard American breakfast sandwich with ham, egg, cheese, some green onion, ketchup and mustard on toast. Delicious!
When we got to the palace, we found that the English guided tour would go at 11:30, and it was only about 9:45, so we bought our tickets and then took off walking ...
After we got home from Jeju and I worked a really long Monday, I decided to show Justin the sport of screen golfing. Justin hadn't really known what to think all those times that I told him I was playing screen golf. For those of you that haven't had the pleasure, its way more than a computer simulated game. Its about the closest you can get to real golfing without going to the golf course. There is a large screen in the front of the room ...

It was more good advice, as it was a very simple descent, and I met a few more locals who were keen to practice their English and find out where I was from.
It was a good day in the mountains, despite the proximity to Seoul, and it satisfied my thirst for a bit of fresh air. The only downside were my ...
... most impressive palace/temple complex I'd seen in Korea. We spent nearly two hours here, wandering among the buildings and sitting by the ponds. Late afternoon was a good time to visit as it wasn't overcrowded with tourists and the colours made for some great photos. I've lost count of how many palaces and temples I've seen in Asia now, but this one wasn't as bad as the guidebook made it out to be, and was more impressive than some ...
Seoul, Seoul, Korea Rep. will... different social groups so to speak. My time as a wrestler has empowered me in both mental and physical toughness. Not to mention the friendships forged along the way. I remember visiting a friend named Pam when she lived in Whistler with four professional snowboarders. I spent the weekend with those guys which was neat. And then there was one semester I was studying Social Psychology, to which my fascination with social groups began, and I approached a Banditos biker ...
Uijeongbu, Korea Rep. morpheous... My seatmates, two ladies also heading to Manila wanted to know where I was going. And when they found out it was Kalibo a lively debate ensued between them and the row behind us, eventually deciding I had a girl friend there. LOL 8:30 am. Skymap puts us over the Bering sea almost over Russian waters. We have crossed the international date line. I decided to just use eastern time for this post as Philippine time is exactly 12. hours ahead of home ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. ksuter... bed, I the couch, and Matty the floor with some of the cushions from the couch. I tired to pass out asap before the pig killing began. In the morning we went for a western BF at Gekos and then the boys from the BU headed on our 1 and ½ hour journey home while Matty and Julia went their separate ways respectively. I hope to call Hugo and hear his tales of fatherhood as he is now a father to four kids; my how time flies. -Thanks for reading
Seoul, Korea Rep. morpheousToday was my visit to Lotte world. For those of you who don't know what Lotte world is, it's this huge indoor theme park in Seoul.. with heaps of rides, restaurants, activities, shows, and all kinds of entertainment. The good thing about it, is there's a huge indoor area, and then there's also heaps of rides outside as well! Firstly I went on this big balloon ride.. It went along the roof, all the way around ...
