... Lake. We had heard from other travellers it was quite hazy down there due to the bushfires started by lightening recently so we were thrilled when on our second day there the haze cleared and we had perfect conditions to see the brilliant blue of the Lake. Our hotel was right on the rim on the crater - formed by a collapsed volcano 7,700 years ago and filled with rain water and snow melt in the 500 years after the eruption (hence the complete clarity of the water). ...

We checked in with the rest of the crew who have arrived at Shady Cove on the Rogue River (fitting huh) we will link up with them tomorrow at about midday.

This has, indeed, been a very busy day! After breakfast we went riding with a few others to see the attractions along the Cascade Trail. What we saw was high desert terrain with a number of small lakes (of volcanic origin) and views of the Bachelor and Three Sisters (snow capped mountains). It took us most of the morning to complete the scenic trail.

Ok, it got nice. Really beautiful day actually; and we enjoyed driving around the cascade lakes again. Hitting up Todd Lake this time and hiking around Sparks Lake. Got the Jeep stuck in the snow for a bit, which made Todd very happy! And of course, stopping ...
