    In Methven I managed to catch up with an old friend from guiding. I haven't seen Vicki since 2001/2, but she was kind enough to let me stay with her on the farm she works on near Methven. A larger dairy farm than the others I have been to, and also different work due to the dry conditions.     ... drives through. You can already hear it coming from miles away, also the black smoke will leave you ‘smelly’. Not to mention, in Sheffield, famous about (I am not quit sure) about scenes of South Parks and its famous pies! And yes, the Sheffield Pie shop is definitely worth it for a stop!

    ... though and magnificent scenery - groups of massive rocks everywhere clustered together looking like herds of animals. We have come as far as Cave Stream tonight which is just past Castle Hill. We are parked up in the DOC reserve with several other campers. The sun is still shining on the mountains at 9pm and we are feeling happy, content and very very lucky.

    ... we had a quick look around the remains of the mining site, Blackburn Mine, before carrying on in increasing winds to the ridgeline and along to the descent into Woolshed Creek.     ... bridge. It really isn't anything to fancy though, its just a long bridge about 20' in the air over a really wide river bed that was mostly rock with a little bit of water in a few places. We arrived in Christchurch about 3 hours after leaving mount sunday.
