Friday 11th September 2015:
Kate arrived at around 7pm from Wellington. We picked her up from the airport then she came to ours for dinner. After dinner we went for a drink at Vesuvio - the tapas and wine bar down the road, then came back and went to bed as it was an early start.

... By the time we hit the top of the second hump we were out in the open and it was getting hot. We could see the hut and also climbers on the Pinnacles and Cave rocks. A short descent to the hut for lunch and photos and we were on our way back out. Although this was mainly downhill on the way back out, due to track conditions it wasn't too much faster. ... the farm we've been invited to the work Christmas meal on Sunday which we are looking forward to. We've been really fortunate with our first backpacker job - we will probably have really high expectations now for future jobs! It will be sad to leave but it's almost time to go to Fiordland and walk the Milford Track, which we booked about 6 months ago!
