Fangio, our driver, took us to the top of the terraces so that we could walk down the face of the terraces. You are able to walk the terraces so long as you remove your shoes because shoes may compromise the white colour. Can't imagine being able to do that in NZ - everything would be roped off. ... past a hairdressers with two young guy hairdressers doing girls hair, so I asked if they could give me a shampoo and cut. Lots of hand actions as they had no English. It's 10 weeks since I had a haircut in Florence!

... non stop on his two mobile phones, in between drinking tea, eating, smoking and talking to people on the bus. At one stage he had no hands on the wheel! He came close to having a punch-up with another man at a cafe stop and seemed even more rattled and erratic after that. It didn't help that we had front row seats and could see it all. We both fell sleep in the end which was probably just as well!

... to Istanbul, but to different airports and on different airlines), so we all hung out together at our adjacent gates until we had to board. After a lot of hugs all around, we walked through our respective gates--and onto the tarmac, where we saw each other again. We did board different planes, though, and Keith took off toward home while Dennis and I took off for the next phase of our trip: Western Europe.
