    ... and shady cycling with good paths. Also we seem to go much faster so got to our lunch stop (remagen) in good time. Simon had a bit of a disaster with lunch and bought raw sausage meat instead of salami for our sandwiches, he then tried to convince me it was sausage paste... So tomato sandwiches it was which were nicer than they sound! We then had a well deserved nap in the shade! Our campsite ...

    ... bike paths but were easy to follow if not as smooth or wide. We cycled past the Ford factory which was huge, and churning out a lot of cars by the look of things. We soon reached a very sunny Cologne and temperatures at about 35 degrees meant we were pleased to stop. We had a quick wonder round and grabbed and ice cream before heading 3 miles down to our campsite on the Rhine! Easy enough, the only issue was having to take the tandem on to a bridge which only had stairs... ...

    ... is green and lush. Constantly you see vineyard's growing up the sides of hills and castles everywhere. For dinner we left the ship to travel to Namedy Castle. The castle is owned by a Princess and is opened to the APT group for viewing and dinner. During the evening a pianist from the Cologne university came and played. It was a great evening!

After trying some Lindt Chocolate and watching how it's made, we wondered down along the river until we got to Old Town where we saw the large cathedral, the Dom.     Being a big business centre like Frankfurt, Düsseldorf has reinvented itself from being a trade and industrial city and the Medienhafen is a good example. This city harbour has been revitalised with three pretty cool looking Frank Gehry buildings which are definitely well photographed. I've seen a few Gehry buildings now like the EMP in Seattle, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago and they definitely stand out ...
