... On the drive out of the tiger reserve, we have one last gem of a discovery: Kate is the first to see a large bird overhead and it lands nearby. Kurt gets a spectacular picture of a crested serpent eagle. What a thrilling day of full of animals.

It bewildered me how much more built up Coonoor seemed since I had last been there thirty years previously. Then only the towns most lower regions had been a place of bustle and chaos. A road from there had led up to sedate British Raj lands, big beautiful old houses with big gardens, very classy and peaceful. Now it seemed that the towns lower bustle had erupted all over the higher slopes ...

... and went looking for some food we hadn’t eaten since breakfast. After walking the town a couple of times avoiding the cow ***** and dogs and men ******* in the gutter we went to a hotel that looked ok and managed to get some reasonable food, think it was probably the only reasonable place in this town.

So back to the station at 08:00 , and we found the station master, he said oh sorry train full, oh dear what now, ...

... about a mile above the town and reach that place of peace and calm, with only the sound of the chaos below. Cool nights (i never thought i would be glad to snuggle under a blanket), a balcony to rest on and a hammock in the garden. Lush walks through the tea plantations and new friends to play and experiment with yoga. Sharing meals and making fruit salad in the morning, the only hard part is fending off the monkeys as they try to share our breakfast.

... Yes, the bull. That is why all those animals, including the cow and bull, are sacred. Also, the peacock is the animal of India.

OK, enough teaching for now. Tonight we are having a campfire and just sitting outside and enjoying the fresh mountain air. Tomorrow, we are visiting a tea plantation where I suspect I will be a tourist and buy some tea.

Tomorrow night I am at a tiger perserve, camping in the forest under the stars with a roaring fire to keep them away. Wish me ...
