Stefan, der seit ein paar Jahren schon in Belo Horizonte lebt meint, die Überschwemmungen und Erdrutsche seien nichts ungewöhliches. Cologne is dominated by the Dom basilica. When you come out at the station it is right there, towering over the square, wonderful intricate spires but blackened with age and grime. I found it very gloomy and we had a sense of it not being such a centre of worship as some of the other cathedrals. Nevertheless it is a stunning building and parts of it are truly ancient.
