The Cathedral took 632 years to complete. During the war, 90% of the central city was destroyed. Eau de cologne was originated here in 1709 by the Farina family. They have excavated the Jewish settlement a little more than on my last trip and plan to open an underground museum within 2 years. We visited 7 Christmas markets as the weather was nice. ... riverboats...it's numerous attractive bridges and it's passing barges is a lively place.. Unfortunately it's popular river crossing cable car attraction, built over 50 years ago does not run in the winter months. It would be a great view of the city also.. (€4.50 well spent too)
