Cruise Phase 1
Our cruise started in Venice on 4 October. The Oceania Rivera was all that we thought it would be. Our stateroom is spacious and very well fitted out. As with all rooms on this particular ship, we have our own balcony where we can sit and enjoy the passing scenery. There are numerous restaurants at which to eat. Arrived in Heraklion
... and simple. We're both knackered from the early start and decide to have a little nap back at the hotel. 4 hours later we wake up..and it's time for food again! If you're in Heraklion for a short stay, like us, this is a great place for a stop over, with a roof terrace where you can drink and dine, overlooking the harbour. Kreta
... zich recht zet en naar een boot gaat. Hij is de ferryman. We mogen aan boord en het varen zelf duurt maar een 10-tal minuten. De boot terug is elk half uur maar hoe we ook aandringen, niemand kan ons meer specifiek vertellen wanneer dat is. We rekenen zelf uit dat de boten waarschijnlijk telkens op het uur en op het half uur vertrekken uit Plaka en tien minuten later op het eiland zijn. We hebben dus een klein uurtje om het eiland te bezoeken.

Heraklion to Mykonos - Ferry Trip from hell
... We are very happy to see you” and we all laughed. He said “I know you have had a terrible day”. After a short drive we finally got to our room just before midnight. This trip took all up 14 hrs, we could of been in Bangkok in 14 hrs. Anyway glad to be here after a trip from hell. We showered and went to bed and Mary was still feeling sick. Our room is big with a big beautiful comfy king size bed, just what we needed. Goodnight.

Goodbye Crete
... port and go the Hellenic Seaways office and yeah we got two tickets to Mykonos tomorrow so don’t know what that agent was going on about. Troy seems to think you cannot buy tickets online within 24 hrs so we went directly to the office. Well with tickets in hand we decide that we are not spending tonight in Heraklion so we head east.
About 15 minutes out of Heraklion we find some nice enough resorts and book ourselves into Knossos Beach ...
