HAVE I GOT A STORY FOR YOU !! okok, so, Monday I take the boat from Santorini to Crete. The boat docks at Heraklion Port, and I need to get to Malia, about half an hour away. We dock at around 8pm and my only option is to take a cab. Now, before I even left Santorini I googled the distance from the port to my hotel and at that point had already accepted the fact that it would be a semi expensive cab ride - whatever. ... I hadn't planned to go ashore as I had visited before but I could certainly understand the disappointment of those who didn't get a chance.
I ate on deck 9 at the back of the boat and then headed off to peace and a good book - thank goodness for my Kindle. It is very rough and hard to walk along the hallways but cosy in my little cabin number 6018 - perhaps I should have tidied it before taking a photo though!
... and well executed museum. Luckily, most of the explanations were also in English.
Our final day was spent wandering in the city. We walked on the ancient city wall and then bought a natural sponge from a fisherman. He assured us we wouldn't find a better quality sponge from anyone else! It was extremely windy that day - the harbor was wild with waves crashing over the Venetian wall. Our hotel in Oia, Atlantida Villas, also located on the rim and overlooking the caldera, was just beautiful. The scenery was beyond what I expected. I also read that the last eruption on Santorini was in 1950 so hopefully 3 days wouldn't change anything!!

Today was a free day so the same crazy group that walked the hot road got together for breakfast and decided to hit the little shops and archeological museum.
Before the museum, we stopped back by the Lions Square and had the famous cream Bougatsa and a frappe!! Wow :)
