... time to chat with the locals they told us how lucky we were to be visiting at this time of the year, how much nicer it is when it is quiet. As one shopkeeper told us 'Now you can see the real Santorini’
We had one last stroll around the laneways overlooking the caldera, one last meal at the excellent Pelican cafe and one last ice cream from our favourite sweet shop and one last soak in the Jacuzzi.
Ah Santorini, thank you for sharing your beauty with us.
... s just a mix of volcanic rock and volcanic sand, and it’s all black.
We did reach Point B, at which time Jess and Maggie decided they had climbed enough and Lexie, who was recovering from a knee operation, kept them company. Heath, Georgie and I pressed on. Every time we reached a high point, a higher point presented itself further on. After 30 minutes of climbing we reached a sign that had a picture of a tent on it with an arrow – do people ...
... port of call was the church at Imerovigli where we had been told by Thanes there was a celebration in honour of Saint Nicholas (this being both Sunday and the feast of Saint Nicholas). Well we headed up there, parked the car and found that we would have to enter the church to be involved. Feeling like we were intruding we decided not to go in. It was great though to see the smiling faces of the congregation as it broke up, all carrying with pride the pieces of bread the ...
Fira, Cyclades, Greece guykb... the time we made it to Oia. Sadly, Oia was virtually shut down. It was a shame to see what is clearly a beautiful village present itself as a virtual ghost town. We eventually found one place where we could eat and we relaxed with a wine to distract us from the pain our feet were feeling. Unfortunately the famed sunset did not happen due to some low lying cloud. We’ll try again another day...
The next bus back to Fira was nearly an hour away so we called a taxi to take us home.
... I looked down to the tray and saw that she got a McMuffin instead and knew that she was sad she didn't just say no thanks and got the muffin she was craving. So as we sat there waiting for our plane Megan ate her muffin slowly and reluctantly, while I read some more of my Stephen King book. 30 min later we headed down to our security checkpoint (I'm gonna get the hang of it one day) and sat waiting for our plane out to Santorini! We boarded at 10:35 and arrived in Santorini ...
Santorini, Cyclades, Greece jhdavisYiasou everyone, It's hard to believe we've already been away five months, having conquered four continents and now, our 15th country - Greece. After the last lengthy update, we'll try and keep this one short, we promise. We arrived in Santorini in the Greek Islands on July 10, after an overnight train journey from Rome to Milan and then a plane from Milan to Santorini. We had just four days on the island, en route ...
Santorini, Cyclades, Greece cc_world_tour... island our transfer was waiting for us and we were taken to a hotel other than what we were booked for. The hotel actually gave us an upgrade to a 4 star hotel for the same price. The hotel from the outside was gorgeous, but the room lacked some good features, like something to hold the water in the shower instead of having the entire bathroom wet.... we walked around the town of Thira (or Fira) which is the main town in the island and grabbed ...
Santorini, Greece jarrettalane... Moussaka, squids!
After lunch, we finally get to see the hotel room. Hotel Keti is the best hotel throughout our honeymoon! Best value for money and best view from the room!
You musn't miss the fantastic view of the hotel which I've captured in video!

These two houses out of nowhere, are actually painted very nice, and they aren't any special buildings. We just cannot resist and had to stop our car just to take a picture of them!
Greece also export a lot of pistachios. And it is from here that we first see a pistachio tree. They ...
... Aegean and a sizable town was carved from the soft volcanic rock deposited here hundreds of years before their time. Now the archaeological site is thoughtfully planned to preserve the remains but gives visitors decent access to all parts of the site using roped paths. Well done and worth the climb. To wrap up my visit I thought I'd ...
