Our little island paradise ended yesterday when we got picked up at 2pm on the ferry back to Phuket. We had heard that Phi Phi Don was going to be overrun when we got there but it wasn't - the hidden beauty of traveling on the cusp of the monsoon season! As a particular random experience Gav spent most of the morn watching the Tour de France on TV as we reluctantly packed our bags. We had no more frogs singing to us and the lizard which had sat every day above our door had finally disappeared...

Ah, the sun, the breeze, the coconut trees, the waves, the relaxation…sounds like heaven? May be to a lot of people, but not to me. First, I am a mountain-hiker, not a beach-comber; second, I don’t know how to relax. I always need to have something to do, or I’ll be bored.
Well, that was the exact reason why I wanted to spend a few days by a beach – I felt that it was about time to learn how to relax, how ...
... was choreographed to music & a sword fight on elephants. After the dancing we moved over to the Elephant Show. This was the highlight of the day. They had elephants throwing darts to a balloon dart board; they were riding tricycles; playing soccer; shooting hoops and bowling. Every time they did a trick, they would run to the audience for bananas. (You could purchase this fruit from the theater to give to the elephants). We ...
Pattaya, Chon Buri, Thailand kiberkid... reminding you of your alimony duties.
You have heard the stories of nubile modest young Thai ladies desperate to marry elder European males for a free ticket to the Land of the Surpreme, plenty of honey and money for those willing to pay the ultimate price...marrying an sweaty Farang male two or three times her senior, being devoted to his over-weight body and fat face full with big red blotches caused by too many cold Heineken or ...
We flew to Bangkok & were picked up by pastors of a church from there. They drove us to Pattaya a few hours away & we met up that night with a church that works in this town. The sexual exploitation here is more than unbelievable. I felt quite sickened by it all.

... Christmas I bought a Rabbit! He is so cute and is called 'kee mao' which is Thai for drunkard/alcoholic! Haha.. He lives with me in my room and I take him out to the beach, the park, the mountain, the market!! I let him out and he happily plays and comes back to me, I was worried he would run off but he doesn't! Yes I am crazy! Haha. Well my main news is that I am now having a radical change myself and have decided to leave Fairtex! After 2 really enjoyable years ...
Pattaya, Thailand lynnthaimaguire... 5:15pm but when I checked my watch it was 5:20. To my surprise the lady confirmed that seats were still available and it was only later I realised that I had not adjusted my watch to Thailand time, which is and hour behind Hong Kong; I had a 50 minute wait! The bus cost me 119 Baht, a grand saving of 2,881...absolute bargain! A trouble free trip down the coast was followed by a short Song Taew (a pick ...
Pattaya, Thailand ex-bookkeeper... he thought we were all crazy! On a different note I've now got an additional job for 6 weeks to cover someones holiday - i'm now the english speaking announcer at the Fairtex Fight Stadium, twice a week on fight nights!! Can you imagine me announcing the fighters into the ring, explaining the process of sealing the ring & the tradional dance (Wai Kru), promoting the concessions & thanking the sponsors in between rounds, also providing some commentary and ...
Pattaya, Thailand lynnthaimaguire... or not. They looked suspiciously like the sewage disposal trucks that come around weekly, but I try not to think about it. Anyway, it took about 20 minutes to get to Chonburi, I just walked around and pointed to some food in a shop and ate - I have no idea what it was, but it was edible. Then it took over 2 hours to get back to Bang Saen - I finally got off the songtaew and started walking. The roads were so clogged we just crept along. At one point, the ...
Bang Saen, Thailand olsommer... all smiles as she stumbled through. As we have said before, what we really enjoy during this adventure is the people and their cultures. We are evaluating some changes to our itinerary, but have made no firm decisions. The last few weeks are to be on some South Pacific islands. The Cooks, Bora Bora, and Tahiti were our first choices. We are not sure if more island time is what we are looking for and the transportation hassles and costs might just be too great. Maybe by the time we ...
