Top of Europe

Külastasime Interlakeni piirkonda, kus on palju ilusaid järvesid, mille vesi on täiesti kristallselge ja iga põhjakivi on hästi näha. Paar tundi sõitsime ülesmäkke rongiga, sest Jungfraujochi muudmoodi pole võimalik minna. Nimelt on tegemist sellise kohaga nagu Top of Europe, mis on üks populaarseim külastuskoht Šveitsis. 3454 m kõrgusel trepist üles ronida on lausa võhmalevõttev; suusatades pole õhuhõredust nii hästi tunda. Peale meie oli seal üleval arvutu hulk...indialasi! Tekkis mei...

Scenic Trip to Interlaken

... into another backpackers. This one was very new and we had bunk beds and 2 single beds pushed together and a bathroom plus a view of a large mountain with snow on it, which we thought was the Jungfrau. We decided that we would go for a walk to a small town called Bonigen but it had started to rain so we just decided to explore Interlaken. We realised that Interlaken was a destination for Japanese tourists as near the casino, the expensive ...

Birthday with a Glorious View

... view changes dramatically. We descended and conitnued on our journey where we bumped into a cool, yet delightfully quirky aussie girl called Mia. She suggested we go off road up the hills to to cliffs and walk across there. Having fared rather poorly from our previous, much simpler of climbs, we were hesitant. But Mia insisted and we obliged. And I am glad we did. We ventured up the hills and found a stream, leading from one of the falls. It was an amazing walk and was well worth ...

The Sweetness of Being Neutral

Oh refreshingly sweet to celebrate the middle point of our journey (days 57/58) in the centre of 'central' Europe in the middle of the most neutral state on the globe, Switzerland. More importantly the Berner Oberland which gave us the best scenery of the trip to date.

Our first night was spent in Lucerne, slightly to the east of the above mentioned area. Just for one night, to break up travel. A nice small town with a pretty cool bridge and the sight of the ...

on the road (tracks?) again

... extremely awful. We also had a choice of white or red wine, and I chose the white. It was very good. The group was forced to walk back to the hostel in cold, wet rain. However, all spirits were lifted when we were entertained by the skydiving videos. Even though I had no previous desire to skydive, their videos made me want to experience that thrill... Anyways, all that was left to do in Interlaken was get some food ...

Coming out of a low.

... s resolved soon. As I was walking around Zurich today, I was reflecting on the gross injustices in wealth between countries... especially between the riches of this country and the poorness of Cambodia. I really can't say that I like being surrounded by the likes of mercedes, bmws, ferraris etc etc. which is nearly every third car here. And the clothing, jewels and accessories of the locals is kind of sickening. I've read that there are hoards of gold and ...

Venice/Switzerland (Lucerne)-WOW!!

... Yesterday was our extremely long motor coach ride (about 7 hours)to Lucerne. The ride through the Alps was amazing! Lucerne (Switzerland) is absolutely breath taking, and hard to describe in words. Today we took a train to the top of Mt. Pilates-and I cannot wait to show you guys pictures! In fact, when I return I will put the pics up on this site (I haven't figured out that part of this site yet, he he). We were 7,000 feet up, and looking down ...

Skiing In The Sunshine

... to the best shops and look at the cool t-shirts as my willpower would have given up and I would have bought something. There was actually a carnival in Zurich on the day I was there so I saw loads of people dressed up and heard lots of music, mostly English blasting from sound systems. i walked around the old town and down the little ally ways and it reminded me a lot of Brighton with the north and south lanes. I crossed the lovely Zurich river ...

I don't even know where to start i guess ...

... to stay here for the summer." They laughed in understanding. I continued. "I'd only need a worker's permit, down payment for an apartment. I'd probably have to get a Visa of some sort." May asked, "You really want to stay here?" "May, I've been everywhere on this continent. Nothing compares to here." We were back at Balmer's relatively early, but found the supposedly raging youth hostel completely dead. Confined to our rooms, we hung out for a while longer until someone came in and ...
