I must say driving a standard in Italy was a challenge but once we go to the highway it was fine.. our little Fiat Puntu.. we all squeezed in luggage and all.. but we had fun. I was tired after 4 plus hours of driving but happy to be here.

... and came across an old man collecting snails; he had about 2 gallons so far in a large plastic bag. He was very industrious and excited about the future of his snails. He also knew how we could get to our destination (hint: in the opposite direction). Today Susan and I crossed 1,000 kilometers pedaled so far! Although we are still along the coast, the terrain has become more hilly and much more rural south of Pescara. The shore is dotted with little fishing villages and roadside stands where the fisherman sell their daily catch. We stopped in the town of San Salvo Marina, got a beach front hotel room, slept on the beach for a while and then enjoyed another great fish dinner. Thanks for coming ...
