      ... mirrors but he didn’t have any semaphores with him and didn’t appear to be about to jump into signaling so we wandered on I was reminded of a TV program “Due South” of a Royal Canadian Mountie assigned to a task force in Chicago and he would often jump up on the ledge of a building and semaphore his arms to another Mountie somewhere. I really wanted to see some arm waving but was not to be.

      ... fast around the TT course on off-days, there are inevitable accidents. They do not release how many road fatalities there are on the island until after the TT is over, but we have heard from locals that 5 riders have died in the last 2 weeks (last week being practice week, and this one is race week) When you drive around the course, which is also the main road between the bigger towns on the island, you see fresh flower memorials along the way.
