... haudoistakin nousi pahaenteistä savua! Hjumaleisson, siis kertakaikkiaan hiuksia nostattava näky, mutta kuvia en ottanut, koska nämä oli ihan oikeita hautoja eikä mitään turistinähtävyyksiä! ... auckland we headed up to the Bay of Islands on the kiwi bus, which was a beautiful group of islands, famous for the signing of the Maori english treaty which we found out about when we paddled a traditional Maori Waka (canoe) for the day with a local guide collecting our own green lipped mussels and cooking them on an open fire...delicious! ... even got to get out of the vehicle to feed the sheep. Then, we watched the sheepdog demonstration where the dog herded the sheep. After that, we watched a sheep being shorn and then saw a 100-year-old woolen mill that still works as well as the process of making wool for clothing. That concluded the tour, and we hopped back on the bus for about a 3 hour ride back to Auckland. It was an amazing day, and I am really glad I joined the tour.

... and just relaxing. I said I wouldn't include too many photos - OK I lied! I think it's the best way to show you where we've been and what we've done! A wee story first though - on the first leg of our flight from Oz to NZ were were settled into our seats - middle section of the plane and another couple about our age sitting with us in the row of 4. ... the time we get back legs are working better and have worked up an appetite for one of John's cooked breakfasts. First stop of the day was at Lake Matheson, just to the west of Fox. On a still day it gives beautiful reflections of the Southern Alps, a bit of a breeze today but still beautiful and managed to take some good photos of Tui collecting nectar from the flax on the edge of the lake.
