    After breakfast Dave and I opted for an optional excursion which took us on the Ardeche Steam Train. We enjoyed a scenic ride along the Ardeche Mountains. The train took us to places that tour busses could not. We saw spectacular views of waterfalls, gorges and deep valleys. There also was an aqueduct built to store and provide water for the region.     ... overtake each other at 4/5 mph difference in speeds and it was like following a curtain of water.

    ... the Avignon Philharmonic Orchestra magnificent. Our table of 4 couples, Americans, Melbournians and 2 Sydneysiders gelled well as we had mostly connected on previous occasions.     ... disruption. We had a walking tour of this very old small town through narrow alleys making our way up to the ramparts of the 4th Century cathedral of the Bishop. Rebuilt in 12th Century and extended in the 18th Century where we had an organ recital.     ... walked up from the ship but by then we were ready to leave so we walked back to the ship getting thoroughly soaked from the waist down in the process.
