Arrival in Germany

I have just arrived a few minutes ago here in Germany. Since the weather here is very similar to the weather in Chicago, I packed things that I would normally wear in Chicago. I brought my coat, long-sleeved shirts, shirts, hoodies, and pants. I checked the weather and it supposed to be cold (30s and 40s all week). My room is pretty nice because I have a great view of Stuttgart from the window. The hotel is wonderful. I was surprised at how great it was for such a low price. From what I have ...

First full day in Stuttgart

I woke up this morning to find out that the hotel had free complimentary breakfasts. So, I saved some money there. I took some pictures of the hotel so you may see how it looks. After I got ready to go to Neues Schloss (New Castle). I went to the lobby and luckily they had these things called "ten-journey" tickets which is a ticket that I can use for 10 days that will get me a ride on the buses and trains. This had cost me 6 Euro. After I received my ticket I left for the castle. The castle w...

Monday Adventure

I woke up today thinking great, its only monday and I still have all week to explore. Then I thought that I had no idea what I was going to do. I went downstairs to the lobby to look at their brochures. Then I found this lovely tour that I could go on. It was a "City Walk" through Stuttgart which was basically a tour around the city for only 8 Euro. On the tour, we went to the palace garden and the historical city centre. We also looked at the Museum of Art and went on Schlossplatz square. I ...

Nothing today

Today I didn't feel like touring or visiting any museums or monuments so I decided to look at the stores. I found some cool stores and ended up buying clothes which came up to 137,48 Euro. I didn't even plan on spending that much but it just happened. Tomorrow I am hoping to see a play or something. We'll find out later.

Museum!

I chose to go to Württemberg State Museum today. I never really heard of it before but I thought I just might check it out. It turned out that this museum was a museum of a "Prehistoric collection with oldest sculptured works of art known to man."(http://www.stuttgart-tourist.de/E NG/leisure/landesmuseum.htm) Some of the sculptured there were unbelievable. You never would have thought that it was created many many years ago. I took a few pictures that I will upload. I'm a bit sad because I am...

So sad..

I am so sad. This was my last full day in Germany. I will be departing tomorrow morning at 6:55am. I really don't want to leave, but I have to. For my last day, I decided to first attempt to talk to someone in the hotel. When I went downstairs to get some breakfast I had a conversation with someone, IN GERMAN! We said hello to each other. Then they asked where I am from and I replied to them "Ich komme aus Chicago." They said something back to me but I didn't really understand so I asked them...

Out of Stuttgart!

After staying in Stuttgart these past few days, I decided that I would go out of town for the day. I found a city called Karlsruhe which had a few interesting places to go to. With the little time I had, I decided to go to the Karlsruhe Natural History Museum which has been there for more than 200 years. The museum was the city's first Renaissance style building which was built by Karl Joseph Berckmüller. This museum is located in Friedrich Square. This museum contains fossils, minerals, preh...

... form, and the nut man. Even being full, we couldn't pass up the nut man. Imagine every kind of nut coasted in many kinds of goodness. We couldn't even choose, went for the mixed bag. The nutella coated hazelnuts, white cherry chocolate coated walnuts, and the caramelized cashews ranked up there for me. Sorry to say, the liebkuchen just didn't do it for us.

The last pictures are somewhat unrelated, except our mystery came to a ...

Half-day stopover

Caught a night train from Vienna and arrived in Stuttgardt in the morning. Had a great day wandering and seeing the sights. Yet another map from yet another tourist info place. More statues and old buildings (Boring right? Not by a long shot). Still walking around wide-eyed like kids at Disneyland.
