... and their son Thierry were waiting for us just outside, relieved that we had finally arrived after two days of delays. We talked and caught up on news as we walked to the car and they drove us the short way to the waterfront of Saint Denis where they had reserved a hotel room for us. It was about 23:30 by the time we checked in and said goodbye for the night. Although we mostly just sat in taxis, on planes and in lounges, it has still been quite a long and tiring ...

Had the breakfast that was provided at the hotel which was very French with sweet croissants and baguettes. It was nice to sit on the verandah and take in, for the last time, the cloud shrouded incredible high crater walls that surround the village. We then went for a short walk around the town before driving down to the coast and a short drive along the coastal freeway to the airport. to go out for dinner rather than have a meal at our hotel but like Cilaos there
were very few places open. The restaurant we ...

... to the east coast where we had lunch at a Creole restaurant followed by another swim. Another great day. After another two fine and hot days at sea we arrived in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. We had been to Mauritius for two weeks previously for Matt Smalls wedding so had seen most of the island but had not got to Port Louis then so we elected to spend the morning in the town walking then the afternoon back on board by the pool. There was not a lot to see and we walked ...

Our last get up in LR :-(
We wake early so a bowl of tea is sipped back in bed, from where we can enjoy the view before getting up to finish packing and eat breakfast. A call from Elizabeth urges us to hurry as we are to meet Nathalie and family 'between St Pierre and St Joseph.' We manage to be ready before the girls arrive and meet them halfway down the hillside road. From there we follow to ...
