... 1$, 20 items (1 box) is $20... There's a Sam's (Walmart) where imported things are three or four times the price than in Canada... and other cheaper places of the same concept...lesser quality... and one more (we didn't go to) that's practically falling appart (way cheaper).... These pics are from Aug 14 & 15 :)
Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil leona_luvYesterday we adventured around the neighbourhood... for me, this place reminds me of a mix between Chile and the Dominican Republic... some places are very modern, big buildings etc... others... not so much... and the cows are not too far away either... :) so far. I'm loving it! - Specially the food!!!! :) Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love food... so as I discover some yummy things I'll post them to share them with you :)
Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil leona_luvTook a local bus to visit a small town about 30 km south of Paraty. There really is nothing in this town... except 3 beautiful beaches. The 4 of us from the hostel spent the day sunbathing and exploring the beaches. I even took a nice little nap. Wish I can come back tomorrow... Unfortunately, I will be taking an overnight bus to Sao Paulo to catch my flight to Buenos Aires. I guess it is time to say - Goodbye, Brazil. Hello, Argentina!!
Trindade, Brazil csu100... we have almost everything we need. I mean, the actual e-ticket still hasn't arrived, but we are not alarmed. It's all good!! We have just discovered something slightly alarming, however; the temperature in Paris was 13 degrees celsius yesterday, and I only own one sweater. We might have to do something about that. 4 days to go. Oh yeah! Update:18 hours to go. Can I just say that we had everything packed. EVERYTHING PACKED, and now Andy has decided that her bag is too heavy ...
Sao Jose Dos Campos, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil becky_booSo I know I haven't written in here for awhile, it's been pretty busy and pretty awesome to hang out with my friend Andy again, and get to know this town, which is really cool. It's smaller, I like it more than SP and yeah, I'm going to look for my job here. I am tryng to start a business but I will learn Portuguese first, so hopefully that won't take long. I don't feel like writing much right now, but I thought I should say something in case anyone ...
São José dos Campos, Brazil becky_boo... flight from them... one day... So we got to SP on Saturday, went out - GREAT place to go out ;-) worked on Sunday & Monday, met with the guy from the company on Tuesday & Wednesday and took off to Rio on Wednesday afternoon. In Rio we hit the beach on Thursday and went to the Pao de Acucar (Zuckerhut) on Friday. Unfortunately we got stuck in SP on Saturday due to a snow storm in NY and we had to stay one more day in ...
Sao Paulo and Rio, Brazil karls... But this was the nicest looking place and wasnt particularly expensive. However i was taken aback at the level of service. I just ordered a pizza and a beer (pretty regular stuff i would´ve thought) but i got served like a king! I got one of the cheaper beers but the waiter came out with this big bucket of ice for my bottle of beer! And then every time i take a mouthful he´s over filling my glass up like it was wine ...
Sao Paulo, Brazil breiffniAm writing this in a very **** internet cafe in sao paulo (though there arent many to choose from!) and its wicked hot here! Nearly 30 degrees but its the heat more than the sun that you feel. Whilst I arrived safe and sound in sao paulo my rucksack didnt which is quite a pain. I was meant to get an email today giving me some reference number i can use to look up where it is on the BA site but havent got anything yet. I gave them my hotel address at the airport etc ...
Sao Paulo, Brazil breiffni... shirt, a hat, and a sash - all in white decorated with the red, green, and yellow colours of African pride! First night they left really late, but went off with about 110 drummers at 2 AM with a body pounding rhythm that I´ve never seen/felt anything like, lasted until 6 AM. Second night they ditched the full drum group and it was more of an all out dance party with just their singers and band on top of the massive bloco music truck and thousands of us dancing along ...
Sao Paulo, Brazil shawnsmith... on Sunday afternoon, and cannot recall a time where I had seen so many people doing the beach thing. There was maybe 30,000 bathers, just in Ipanema, not to mention Copacabana or any of the other neighboring beaches. So, I have met up with Lindsey Crifasi and Steve Norton, Lawrence´s own renegade intellectual. I am very happy to see some familiar faces and to have comfortable conversations with old friends. It is likely that Steve and I will become ...
