Hall of Mirrors and Horse Meat

We got up at 8 and quickly got ready so we could get to Versailles at a good time. We hopped on the Metro to get to the RER C line that goes out to Versailles. Unfortunately, part of the RER C was shut down, so we had to reroute by taking the Metro around the closed part and catch the RER C at another station.

We finally arrived at Versailles to find a huge line to get the tickets. Hot tip: if you know which day you are going to go to Versailles, buy your ...

Paris - Day 2 - Eiffel Tower, Good Grub, & Cruise!

... Its a gorgeous view from both the first and second level. Perfect weather today ... not too windy, a few clouds in the sky to keep it cool. But really, the view isn't what you come for. Just SEEING the Eiffel Tower is the memorable thing. To be at its base, to see its architecture, and ornate designs ... to eat lunch in the park. A wonderful and relaxing experience. The birds here are the bravest I've ever seen. As we ate lunch, Samuel tossed a small bit of ...

My Days are like Eggs

Sometimes sunnyside, sometimes scrambled, sometimes overcooked and rubbery, I continue to walk and take in the views of my city. I have finally survived my last day in that horrible hotel and I begin my day taking my suitcase for a walk...down the streets of Pigalle where the XXX shows are bountiful and the people flock to the real Moulin Rouge (which just means Red Mill, like the burgers in Seattle), down the side roads, over the cobblestones, my trusty ...

First week in Paris

I have been so incredibly busy and haven't had time to post anything. So the first week of being in Paris is essentially over. This means that I have school tomorrow :( Well it had to happen some time and I'm not spending 5 weeks in Paris for nothing! So this is a recap of what I've been up to since my last post. Tuesday, July 1 This day was awful. I hate orientations. I went to school early and had the first french class--a lecture on Introduction to European ...

Tour Eiffel

... alleys again following Rick Steves guide. It was a good idea to bring his books and an even better one to tear them up and carry just the chapter of interest. Another great guide book is the atlas called The Paris Mapguide: The Essential Guide La Vie Parisienne. Easy to carry and detailed enough to find anything. Walked by the houses of Renoir, Picasso and Toulouse Lautrec and sat in front of the Lapin Agile, saw the headless statue of ...

We'll Always have Paris

... for you Mom), a nosebleed and some cute boots. We walked aaaaaaallllll the way back toward the Tower, took it up to the 2nd level, got really cold and hungry and booked it back down (on the lift of course....u don't think we'd walk that in new boots do u?) The girls shared (that means we ate in a too expensive restaurant) tomato, olive, and mozzarella appetizers with bread and a bottle of wine before heading over to ...

Day Three!!

... in a large group) and went to the top. I got amazing pictures. Everyone was taking pictures for everyone. None of us could believe we were here in paris and seeing the major sights. Here we were Dover Full Image The white cliffs at the top of the world. Check out some of my pictures. It sparkles at night as well, it's a glorious show. Then we headed back to the hotel for a free day in Paris the next night. -Monica-

Thoughts on the next 2 months

... Dealing with Hitler and the war is just emotionally exhausting, this I am sure you can all understand. The next trip, based on my previous experiences is structured a little bit differently. First, there aren't any day flings where I need to be photographed, with the exception of Pompeii because the ruins there are in tight quarters. Instead, there is a week in Rome with a day trip to Pompeii and another in Naples, 2 days in Florence with half a day in Pisa (although ...
