A late summer's day

A town called Auxerre
... a fabulous gateway. As the heart of this town it was a great shopping/restaurant precinct. Everything beautifully maintained. We had lunch down on the Quai, at a lovely restaurant right by the water. This town is certainly one of the hlghlights. Our last day in Varzy tomorrow. My theory tested
My theory of making menu choices was sorely tested today, and failed miserably. I was confident that I had chosen veal in a cream and mustard sauce. All the words looked right. Who would have thought one little word would matter so much. Oh sure, I got creamy mustard sauce, and veal, just not the part of the veal I thought I was getting. Got a whole plate full of kidneys. Fun with the horses & herb garden
Today was another nice day!
We had lunch at Philippe's mother's house ~ rabbit and potatoes, carrots and more dessert.
We are eating dessert with every lunch and dinner! Yikes!!! But SOOO good! =)
Next MC took us to where the twins ride horses once a week so Cade could ride a pony, but he didn't want to. So, we took a nice walk in the forest with the pony.

... exhibit ~ a world famous designer who had his beautiful costumes on display from the Paris Ballet and Opera.
Afterwards we had some crepes.
Now Philippe is cooking dinner ~ ravioli, duck, and assorted mushrooms.
We are having a really fun time and are being treated like royalty by Philippe's family.
We will stay here another day then Wednesday morning head out for the South of France for a week.
