... was buzzing with activity, even on a Saturday night. Went to a club last night but the clan and I were disappointed with the techno/ lack of American music so we left pretty quickly. Today we dedicated to the works of Antonio Goudi. We went and saw two of his famous works, not sure what they were called, then spent several hours going through his unfinished masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. ... we made our way to see Le Secret de la Lance and we were fortunate enough to get seats in the shade. Once again the standard of this show was amazing. Visually stunning with lots of action, we were in awe as what appeared to be an enormous solid stone wall ( where fighting between enemies had taken place) just lowered into the ground. The enormous castle behind moved towards us and pivoted as it did so. When the stone wall reappeared, it looked different ...

Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde was another show we enjoyed which was the story of Merlin and King Arthur. The dramatization is unbelievably amazing with a whole set of the round table rising up from a lake and then a man riding a horse appearing from within it. We could not work out how some of these amazing effects were achieved. Singing and narration are often included in these shows as well.

... trucks were having a break. Only one toll ticket for 3.5 hours and as we got near Nantes we came off to go to the lovely town of Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu we had to pay €51.50 for our days work.
The drive North was ever changing because very soon we had left the vineyards behind and soon encountered huge fields of barley many already cut and straw baled and removed more with combine harvester parked up ready to roll.

Nantes is the 6th largest city in France and the capital of the Pays de la Loire region. The main attraction the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, all shiny and new after 15 years of restoration work. It also has a couple of nice cathedrals. Although we didn't see it at its sunny best, we felt that this city was not as special as those we have already stayed in on this trip.
