30 rue Joseph Junck Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg, 1839, 352-49-24-96
We were on the road by 10 am, just as planned. Traffic is a bit heavier than we would like, but you work with what you're handed. It’s supposed to take about 6 hours to get to Luxembourg. We’ll see how it progresses.
We passed through Belgium at 1:15 pm. We passed through Luxembourg at 2:15 pm. We stopped along the way to have some lunch at 3 pm because I was very hungry. It was a very small town ...
Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg tonkinOn Thursday I got up and walked the city of Speicher and looked at the whole town, it really isn't that big at all. It is a small city and most people either work on the Air Force Base or they drive to Bitburg or Trier to work. Anyways it was nice to see the small city and where my parents lived for a few years. After I was finished walking Richard and I went onto the base to look around ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg drunkendidier... Trier. It was breathtaking. We could see all the Roman ruins and all of the churches in the city. It was a really amazing sight for me. So after a few minutes of gazing at the city we got back in the car and went to Speicher, where I lived for the first year of my life. After getting to their house in Speicher we had a few drinks and just chatted about the past.
Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany drunkendidier... was stationed here. Check off another entry on the old bucket list but one I really want to repeat before too long...only next time I would like to do an extensive tour over here on a bike.
Unfortunately, my main digital camera broke and nothing I can do to fix it. So I am on my iPhone today with the few uploads I have.
Tomorrow I need to be up early for an 8:30 departure from the ...
... and much of the original furniture.
The Burg Elz castle is basically three fortified homes, owned by three noble families, protected by one common stone fortification.
This may have been the only castle in which we saw 14th and 15th century furnishings, still in place after all these years.
We also got to see the knicknacks collected by these wealthy families over hundreds of years. There were 600 year old crossbows ...
... a great time shooting bbguns and we had a quick lunch before driving back as we were suppose to go for dinner at Manu & Isabelle. By the end of the afternoon Marg was not feeling well and Ben was sick. Josh was tired as well so I decided to go alone... nice meal overall and company not seen for ages. It was nice to catch up.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg fbauchet... a fantastic meal in a place that few tourists would ever visit. Back to the house for an after dinner drink (or two) of a very nice grappa. More conversation, music and videos and to bed at a very late hour. Sorry about that Kathy!!! Saturday morning and we awoke to gray and misty day, ready for my sightseeing tour of Luxembourg City. First of all let me say that Luxembourg City is absolutely stunning. I have been all over Europe and just ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg nedkAs I watch the sun rise through my hotel room window I think of the day ahead. What a perfect ride I will have through the French countryside on my way to Luxemburg. The distance is short. Only 200 kms to go by the shortest route. The weather is perfect for the end of September. The morning will be a cool ride and I must dress warmly. The sun will keep me warm. The arrival in Luxemburg will be uneventful. I will get to the hotel, with a room already booked, without any ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg cobra1899... to get to the bar to get beer too. My shirt became soaked with the beer on the bar. I then finally got waited on (it took 30 minutes) and ordered a beer for myself, 2 for Mike, and one for Nick. I then decided that I deserved a glass of champagne for standing in the mob like that. It was weird because we had to pay a euro per cup that we got in addition to the cost of the drink. I found this weird considering I saw them throw ...
