We left St Avit Loisirs dead on 10am check out time, and got to our overnight stop over at 7pm. Ok J was driving and it poured with rain and we mixed toll roads with A roads and we didn't have directions to the hotel BUT STILL! Growers are not allowed to irrigate and there are limits to how much wine they can produce for sale under AOC regulations. Our last day was meant to be a riding day. Again it was raining. We were dropped off at Fontevraud Abbey which has been an abbey for men and some , although separated. It was also a prison, nunnery and is the ...

... and got directions from two chaps - at the same time - all in French. However, the arm waving did help somewhat and eventually, we found a sign which more or less pointed us in the right direction. Oh boy, were we glad we were not towing our caravan!! This Aire is just beautiful. Right on the side of the river, a very nice little town just over the bridge with a supermarket, patisserie and butcher. ...
