10 Gap Road Alice Springs, Red Centre, Northern Territory, Australia, 61-8-89521444

Even earlier start today. Bags at bus at 615am. Super early. Also our longest driving day, 8 hours. Brekkie only had 3 rice bubble boxes- luckily I was one of the first ones so I got mine.
First stop was Devils Marbles. Somehow all my rechargeable batteries had no charge at the same time. Sucked as the Marbles were really cool, and could have some more sweet pics from them. We stopped for a bathroom break at the UFO Capital (Wycliffe Well). The washroom had 1 toilet, for 45 girls on a ...
We got to sleep in until 8 this morning. Felt so good, especically after my late night. Shaz and Deano cooked us breakfast today. Pretty nice of them.
We headed to a viewing point of Mt. Connor. It's the first object in the distance you see when driving down to Uluru and many mistake it for Uluru but it does have a different shape. Mt Connor looks like a toothbrush. Headed back to Alice Springs. Afternoon was free, so I did laundry for the first time (it was needed) and just chilled b...
Alice is a jumping off point for exploring the outback, but it also has history. Originally, it was a telegraph station that connected South Australia with Darwin in the north. It's a little funky, a little rough around the edges, but a functional spot for coming in and out of the 'Red Centre.' We started our outback camping safari here, and ended it here as well. ( Much as we enjoyed our camping, it felt good to be able to move from shower to bed without walking through red sand.)

Thursday morning and time to get sorted out before heading off to the airport. I was still packing as we ordered the taxi, but I'm sure it'll be be fine - I'll surely remember everything I need, won't I?!? Well, whatever, before we knew it the taxi had arrived and we were off on our adventures... The flight was relatively painless, with us arriving in Alice Springs close to on time, and jumping into a waiting minibus to take us to our hotel - the All Seasons Oasis on Gap Road (just on the ou...
Alice Springs, Australia markgemmellWe arrived back into Alice Springs as the sun set over the western horizon and headed to our rooms to freshen up. We'd made sure that there were two room available this time for us before leaving on our tour on Saturday so we were checked in in seconds and into our rooms very soon after. A quick change and it was back into the hotel bar for a drink and a few games of pool. Dad showed off his superior skills and took our little match 2-1 (I let him win really... Honestly!) and we headed off to...
Alice Springs, Australia markgemmellWhile the rest of Australia was storming retail outlets for Boxing Day sales, we drove the Stewart Highway which goes the entire length of Australia from Adelaide to Darwin over 3000 miles. It is named after John Stewart, the first man to traverse the country from North to South and return again alive. We took the road for about a 5 hour drive from Alice Spings to Uluru (ayres Rock). This road was a dirt road up until 1987. Hard to beilieve much of the interior of Australia is still dirt road...
Alice Springs, Northwest Territories, Australia sbgrossmanMerry Christmas and Happy Hanukah. Okay, so we made it to Alice Springs yesterday morning. Our 5th flight in 6 days. I gotta say, upon first look, as far as I am, concerned we coulda skipped this town. It is serious outback desert - hot and dry. There is very little here other than chachke stores...and seeing as our only free day here, tomorrow, is Christmas day (and all the shops will be closed) I rather wish we had spent more time in melbourne and Adelaide and skipped Alice Springs. The com...

... pointed in the right direction we walked around Uluru and obeyed the aboriginals request not to climb on their sacred rock. That night we slept in swags below the starry sky and around a very warm fire. In the morning we were covered in frost and discovered it had dropped well below zero the night before. We re-heated our bodies and hiked a very impressive canyon. Then the British couple hugged. It was an awesome.
Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia darahannah... pakitud ja valmis pikaks bussis loksumiseks. Broneerisime neljap2evase reisi, seega p2iksel oleks viimane aeg end ilmutada hommikuse t6usu ajal. Alice Springs ise on minu meelest k6ige kurvem kyla, kus ma olen kunagi k2inud. T2navad on peaaegu inimtyhjad, v2lja arvatud hulkuvad aborigeenid, keda politsei k2ib aeg-ajalt kantseldamas. Nendest on ikka v2ga kahju. Nende oma maal pole neil mitte midagi muud teha kui h2ngida-tsillida ja juua-varastada. K6iges ...
