Our next destination was Broome. On the way there we stopped in Port Hedland where we let fix our flat tyre (for 30 AUD), had some other food than pasta (burger / salad at McDonalds) and connected us to the world via free wifi (including a little chat with Xaf’s granny via skype). There wasn’t much to see in Port Hedland. The most impressive thing was ...

We searched for a fresh seafood fix but being a weekday, we had to settle for the pub across the road. That said, neither of us have seen oysters so big before - too big actually. You had to cut the oyster in half to get it down....very tough ...

The 4 of them went for a ride in the West's kyak and rescued a bird over near the rocks on the far side ...

It was sad that we were so far away and unable to be with her but we were very proud of the fantastic job she did in organising everything and she said she had a wonderful night. Because of the time difference here, it was still early enough for us to head off to a movie at the Sun Picture Gallery, an open air picture theatre.

From Port Headland we drove towards Broome but stopped along the way at 80 mile beach and it's called that because, yep it's 140 miles (?!?) of beach and a spectacular beach. When you get onto the beach it takes your breath away because either way you look, the beach goes on forever.

The beach is really far from the sea and before you get to the sea there is thousands of shells all over the beach, it's so cool.
