... no big animals around here but they do have more than their share of crawling, hopping things. Stick insects are about 5 inches long. Lizards are huge, like small dragons. The one in the driveway is about a foot and a half. And the frogs. Thom saw one about fifty percent larger than his fist. There was one in the shower drain last night and from the croaking I'd say he was about ten pounds. You watch where you put your foot around ...

Looking at the sheer cliffs and vertiginous heights, utmost respect for theseThey were very different to the Kimberley gorges as they were very deep and quite narrow and while Kimberley Gorges were forged through mountainsides and escarpments, these Pilbara Gorges sprang out of nowhere, as large fissures in ...

The Courthouse markets were on this morning so we went in and had a look around at them and then continued into Chinatown and browsed around the pearl shops (so beautiful and so expensive), and a couple of art galleries.
We then went to find Anastasia's Pool, the tide was up high and the local kids were jumping off the cliffs into the water. It seemed strange to see the kids jumping into water were the other morning we ...

We have had a sleeping this morning and we're not out of bed till 8am. Once breakfast is over it's pack up time again. We have this packing and unpacking streamlined now so we're in the road by 9. We drive to Roeburn and fuel up, then it's on to Karratha. We are both very surprised by the size of Karratha, we expected this to be like all the other towns we've travelled through to get here, but it's very modern & has a population of ...
