MANGO MANGO MANGO

... dancing, throwing mangoes at each other and climbing the occasional tree to get those high up mangos. It was fun! We had lunch and spent the last four hours of the day cheeking. Cheeking isn't all that really, you have to stand up for hours and pay attention or risk losing a finger. But its Ok cos they were playing all their country/old school music all day and me and Chris chatted all afternoon calling each other a mofo every 1 minutes or so. E.G. "Nick Hawkins, Mofo extraordinaire", Or ...

Finally, we reach surf & sea!

... where the water temperature is 28c, high tide is over 9m with perfect waves and the sun sets over the ocean (in Sydney, we have sunrise over the ocean). Oh, and we moved from hobo (with multi-coloured tarps hanging around the tent in the fly infested bush) to luxury as we ditched the tents and are staying at the very luxurious Cable Beach Resort to rejuvenate.

We are now half way through our Oz Adventure. Being on a ...

Broome - Cable Beach

... always thought camels as really ungainly but they do have a certain elegance to the way they lope along the beach. I had a ride on their youngest camel called ‘Diesel’ who is only 7 years old. I think they said that I was his first ride so I mounted with fear and trepidation as they said he would rise really fast and he sure did – I nearly went over his head! But he was pretty good on the ride along the beach – he was a little spooked when we were lead ...

a last swim in the ocean

... 8211; most of it in the water then of to Willie Creek Pearl Farm in the arvo. At the beach Mantha got stung – not sure what by – but it wasn’t a box jelly or an urakanji either but the lifeguard put some vinegar and ice on it and in 10 minutes she was playing in the sand with Kirstyn as if nothing had happened.

The Pearl Farm was interesting. Broom, broom, all the way to Broome!

... had no clue where we were looking, coz the sun sets, and then its at least an hour inbetween until the moon rises, hence the clearness of the spectacle) and the whole crowd cheered! From then on the moon slowly but steadily rises and the orange sphere starts to grow, and then the light starts to seep across the mudflats to create a stairway effect (the tide goes right out, revealing the ripples in the mud). It was an awesome sight.

Day 158-169 Broome

... It is then that Maegs sees Lori and Matt, Joden and Flynn and runs back frantically to tell Max.

Looks like there is a big gang forming and Greg's bday celebration will indeed be classified as a party!! The kids and I are all getting excited and hurriedly making plans to entertain like we would normally do back home. We organise a huge lamb pack and "boomers" for the BBQ and I make a gluten free cake with mint leaves -Greg's favourite lollies for decorations. I've ...

... an beautiful beach, but almost like a whole new place, the tide was right in, and there was almost no beach, just blue blue water, a few rocks & a bit of white sand. Graham & Paul had another successful day & we had fish for dinner again. Explored some of the other beaches around Port Smith, and late in the afternoon found our way out to the 'Cliffs', with their magnificent views, limestone formations, caves, arches and long empty beaches. Paul got up early on Monday ...
