    Day 8 - Mt Isa

We decided to stay in Mt Isa another day to see a few more sites and let Chloe have her on-line lesson and then a one-on-one lesson with her teacher.

Up and organised with washing and then off to the lookout for a few shots of the town.

We then headed into town for some basic supplies. Shopped in Coles and found that the prices were basically the same for most items, a few things a bit dearer but overall the ...

... another 120 km away. The scenery changed to continuos hills and mountains with jagged rocky tops. This country side has been in drought for over two years and all the creek beds are parched.

So we visited Woolies for a stock up of food. Although we had prepared for food to cost a little more in the more remote areas of Australia, we were a little surprised by the jump in price here (see photos for explanation). Our next best option for some underground action was to visit ...

Once again, to the children's delight, they were piled into the back of the ute and with the adults in the cabin we drove over extremely rough tracks to another set of yards where they were drafting, branding, marking and loading. Interesting but seemingly so casual. Life here is conducted on Queensland time. Back to the caravans for a late lunch and to decide whether to move on or stay another day. The vote (narrowly) went ...

... in Australia. Then we went to the top of the hill to look at the view, afterwards we did some shopping and bought ice creams as it was very hot. Afterwards we drove past the mine. Then we went back to the caravan park. After 1 to 2 hours it was dinner time and it was called Happy Hour when we all bought something for dinner and as we were on a cattle farm we had Brahman steak provided which was cooked on the ...
