A travel blog entry by clarksaroundoz on Sep 04, 2014

I hadn't bothered to say it earlier but when we were in Darwin we had the car serviced and new brake pads put on all four car wheels. Afterwards we had started hearing a noise that concerned us. Had thought about getting it seen to in Katherine on the way back down, but as we arrived in Katherine on a Sunday, that wasn't possible. So went looking for a mechanic here in Mt Isa yesterday as soon as we arrived. Again, we are so blessed. The guy said he could only ...

... just off the worlds longest Main Street. It runs between Mount Isa and Camooweal in northern Queensland a distance of 188 kilometres between the two towns as Camooweal is a suburb of Mount Isa. I chose to venture on further south for just under 1,000 kilometres to ...

... 2pm. Well worth a visit, $30 for the family. Truly amazing how they operated hospitals back then and wonderful history of the underground hospital that was set up in the 1940's when Darwin was bombed. Not knowing what lay ahead they took 15 weeks to blast and then clear by pick/hand the 4 tunnels and then filled them with equipment and beds etc. in case Mt Isa was bombed. It never happened so therefore the hospital was never actually used. Incredible though, so ...
