A Very Convenient and Comfortable Hotel.

The Mercure Hotel is very conveniently located and just five minutes or so by shuttle bus from the Sydney International Airport. It is also within walking distance of the St George Rowing Club which has a nice friendly atmosphere and serves reasonable club style food at affordable prices.

Our room was comfortable and well appointed, and looked over the lovely grounds of the Kogarah Golf Course. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated and is very tasteful. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We cannot report on the hotel restaurant. It has become "traditional" for us to dine at the St George Rowing Club on the evening before our travels the next day. We also opted not to have breakfast as we had booked an early shuttle bus the following morning and could eat in the airport lounge if we wished.

The shuttle bus to the airport is a great service and makes this hotel extremely convenient for travellers. It is important to find out from the hotel when and from where the shuttle bus leaves at the airport. Be warned, taxi drivers (understandably) do not appreciate having queued for some time to pick up passengers who only have a five minute taxi trip fare.

We would highly recommend this hotel to travellers.

A typical, mid-range airport hotel. Awesome breakfast buffet, however.

Renovations fully finished said the sign on entry. Well, new carpet, a flat screen TV and a coat of paint don't cut it when the 80s style fixtures and furniture show the same wear and tear of yesteryear. Lovely staff though tried to make up for it, but I wouldn't stay again.

Drove from Canberra to Sydney and checked in at the Mecure. Little did we know the Seahorse Association was having their Gala Ball there!!! Look up the orgainsation and you will see why it was interesting!

Jill made the booking and when we arrived, there was all manner of confusion as the room had already been booked in. They rang the room and sure enough, John Simpson answered the phone.

Needless to say, it was interesting but we were upgraded so all was good.

A beautiful, clear autumn dawn greeted us. It nearly always does on our morning of departure from our home at Crowdy Head, on the mid north coast of New South Wales. And it makes it achingly difficult to justify why we are leaving this peaceful bit of paradise.
