Cali, Colombia ewbarr... we were going to store at the hostel. We decided to leave on Friday not Thursday and we had one good night out with Mikkel, Diana, Laura and Leidy, our family at the Casablanca Hostel. We went ...
Cali, Colombia courtrand... was an early start, and after a really nice breakfast we went out to sort out the camera... having it done we decided we had to take some pictures, to make up to the lack of them so had a wander around, with Enrique and Maria B, followed by a delicious "Cholado". Its a fruit salad put on top of some crushed blackberry flavoured ice, all smothered in jam, honey and english custard. Eat it just among friends. Apart from the ...
Cali, Colombia spog00... company so they are shipping as little gas as possible. Then we are on the road. We make our way back into the city at rush hour. Cars are 5 wide in a 3 lane highway. Scooters and small 125 cc motorcycles dashing around cars and splitting lanes. Cars cutting us off..... we keep our wits about us and we had a few stare downs with some cagers but all in all it was a blast. We make it back to the Hostel at apx 6.45. We are pumped !
Cali, Colombia chemoejito... no stops for us as yet. Anyway, we arrived at the bus station and organized a bus out to Bogota for the 4th and jumped in a Taxi to our Hostel of choice. Loving the low season! We arrived and unfortunately were unable to get a room as the Hostel was closed with plumbing problems. Plan B was just around the corner. We were greeted by a friendly dog at the door and given a room. Now, to test ...
Cali, Colombia dockerillsWhen I first moved to Colombia, my Spanish was a bit light and I was certainly overwhelmed. I had help finding a place to live, but then discovered the muchacha at the place was stealing me blind, and the old folks who I rented a room from were insane. After a few months I escaped into the city for an apartment of my own. It was good and bad. My apartment was across from a radio station, Radio Todelar, which played ...
Cali, Colombia redpop2Well, this journey started way back in the beginning of 2007 when I swore to revisit my homeland. As eager as I was, complications slowly took that away. Although I had only been there 8 years ago, many things had changed. If you want to imagine Cali, picture Manhattan. Now replace half the people with motorcycles which still mix gas and oil. The pollution coming from the cars, buses and motorcycles burn your eyes and scorch ...
Cali, Colombia luz-angelaThe warm weather of Cali made it the perfect place to kick back for a few days. Claiming to be the Salsa capital of Colombia and even the world, Cali had great night life but was a little short on sights. One of the better things to do in Cali is to visit the zoo. The zoo ...
Cali, Colombia madhawk... good looking' reputation and Sam was happy to spend time in the local cafes 'people watching'. We managed to get a big pile of laundry done and spent the next few days eating, drinking & generally chilling. We bought some salsa & meringue CDs to add to our growing collection of South American music we have bought on this trip. Its been a good stay in Colombia and we woke up early on Wednesday morning (15th August) braced for a day of travelling. PHOTOS TO COME SOON!!
Bogota, Colombia samandpriya... the Place de Bolivar, the beautiful main square of the city and checked out the Museo de Arte Moderno. The next day we explored the Museo Nacional, took a cable car to the top of Cerro de Monserrate for spectacular views of the city and explored the Museo del Oro. The Oro (gold) museum displays the gold artifacts of the ancient societies. The first inhabitants of Colombia are thought to have migrated down from North and Central America ...
