... never to go on that kind of tour, no matter how decrepit we become. We have enough independence in us to resist such a tour. It sounded ghastly. ... the past as well as the modern. It was probably all the rage back in the day. It was nice weather, the best we've had so far so we walked along the esplanade. The Rhine is a lovely river and we saw boats like the one we are about to board tomorrow for our cruise. ... in we head over the bridge covered in padlocks to visit the cathedral. It must have been one of the few buildings to remain after Cologne was heavily bombed.
