A drink required saw us find a bar which was a step back in time, proper old German bar with steins. We also made a brilliant purchase of 50% Rat Killer alcohol.

In the corner of the next Hameln bar Lucy found a play area with a toy kitchen and dolls and she declared it had been the best day so far!

On the way over I stopped in medieval hansa town Hameln for a couple of hours. The famous tale of the rat catcher comes from here, and is exploited to the full.

... was out with the boys. Eckard had been lined up to prepare a raclette dinner, much to the delight of young Leo. Traditionally a meal that is served with time to spare, as its a long meal, the emphasis being equally on eating and sharing time with friends and family. Our raclette dinner was no exception.
