... and instead went out to a great classic Provencal dinner, and got some good wine. But then, we started to see a couple kids in costumes, or rather just kids in sheets. I think one of them had a mask. But on our way back from dinner, we found the bar scene. Mostly it was just people out on a normal Saturday night, but we had to at least go check it out. We were somewhat impressed with the Halloween scene, and probably could ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... planning at all!

But tonight we’re talking a relaxing voyage by boat over the Medeterranian. Which will be followed by another. A few relaxing sailing days it would seems. Not exactly what I thought we were going to be doing, but it will work. We have our own berth with a shower and bed. Oh the luxuries never end! At least these 2 fools will rest well tonight and prepare for what lies ahead.
Marseille, Provence, France 2totangoAs it is nearly a month after my last entry, the time has come to write my third installment of mes aventures francaises...

Having spent most of my free time out with the girls (drinking far too much 1664 and sangria), I didn't think I'd have much to write about, hence the delay on this entry, however the length of this will probably tell you that I was wrong! For a start, we've had two 21st birthdays so far, Lizzie's and then Louise's today, so lots of celebrating ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89Bonjour avec Aix-en-Provence Cherie
Since the last news we have visited the Cote D'Azur spending time at Monte Carlo and Antibes. We stayed near Antibes at a place called Biot and at night you could hear the seals at nearby Marineland - very strange. It was still quite hot and stickey with more mozzies. Monte Carlo was wall to wall money with billions of dollars in boats and cars. Antibes was similar but it had a lovely old town as well.
We arrived ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... myself to one a day for the sake of conscience. They’re the thin kind, too, so usually come folded like a paper airplane or even rolled up tortilla-style. Of course there are lots of Maghribian dishes in the Arab quarter- couscous etc., but that requires actually sitting down… ahem. Easier are the taboules and other salads available in the grocery stores. At least a steady diet of vitamins has finally ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... culture. Actually, as I'm writing this, I'm watching "Date My Mom" on MTV dubbed in French with Francois and Claire. It's pretty funny. They also have the most extensive DVD collection I've ever seen. Almost all of the movies are in English which is good for me. Marie thinks the best way to learn a new language is by watching TV. So she has the kids watch all their movies in English with French subtitles.
Last night, after they gave me a tour of ...

Marseille, France penny.hope... evening the city streets appeared to be 90 percent men so we weren't sure which eating establishments 'we' could enter. We ended up at a fast food Asian restaurant with lineups spilled out onto the street. We figured this was a safe bet. It was kind of like a buffet but you select what you want from behind a glass cabinet and a waitress fills your plate accordingly. Food was good and at a fair price.
Marseille, France travelmenu... would see this as opting out but it had been a while since we had talked to anyone new without half of it getting lost in translation. This quest led us abruptly to an Irish bar on the Vieux Port which we had visited before, and we settled down to watch Germany get beaten to a pulp by Italy. We had already seen Australia get beaten by Italy in a cafe around the corner from the attic, we, and an italian man, were the only ones watching it ...
Marseille, France alicecrabtree... take off, & we were kept on board the entire time. That meant of course we missed our connecting flight & it was a trying time transferring from Heathrow to Gatwick & waiting around even longer. Finally arrived into Marseille on a dismal raining afternoon instead of the sunny morning I had envisgaed We were so ...
