After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74Gorgeous morning and a stunning place for breakfast awaited us just outside Scooby overlooking the lake. I went for a run but Kim was feeling a little under the weather so she stayed and made me breakfast - yay! We spotted two girls about our age and attempted to engage in some conversation but their English was limited and French is rubbish. Shame as its manily been the grey hair brigade we ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... the wonderful "fun" and "vitamin" radio stations to keep us entertained with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" and 3 other dance songs that they kept repeating.

http://picasaweb.goog le.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090928Cannes? authkey=Gv1sRgCPHzqZ_hy_fA8AE&feat= directlink
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... first day in Nice was spent on the beach, we couldn't wait to go into the ocean, that we went swimming without towels. Wasn't a good idea since Nice is all rock beaches and we couldn't really sit to dry off... WE had a delicous pasta dinner at Pasta Basta and ordered the finest wine on ...
Nice, Provence, France sofenjon... Canadian Prairies to immigrant Ukrainian parents, who's now raised a family of her own, continues to value and be proud of her Ukrainian heritage! So, today, Elsie becomes Lesia, that beautiful Ukrainian Princess! And could there be a more appropriate location than Monaco! For those who may not be aware, the name Elsie translates to Lesia in Ukrainian.

So, the Ruby Princess takes Princess Lesia to ...

Cannes, Provence, France cainteam... white just doesn't cut it. Fortunately we've largely returned to our Northern European roots in that respect, whole-grain brown and rich with flavor. Ditto for cheese, may Velveeta rest in peace. Finding brown rice in Bangkok is getting easier also btw, right there in the buffet line at Siam Square and almost any vegetarian 'jay' restaurant. You heard it here first. Cheese is still practically unknown there. Pigs are well-known of course, but not ...
Cannes, Provence, France hardiek... in design and look, and looked as if they had not changed in style for over 800 years. What had changed about these buildings was the interiors of course. St. Paul de Vince has a well known artist community, and all these old buildings now house art galleries. I didn't go into any of these galleries because I knew that I couldn't afford the art nor did I have the time to really look at their pieces, but I did window shop ...
Cannes, France swisherd... back to me. Right now we just have an intensive French class every morning from 9 to noon, and then later on in september the other classes will start. The craziest thing is the professers teach all in french, because it's the common language, so I really have to pay attention or I'll miss something! French word du jour: la plage, which means the beach. Even if you don't know French you'd know that word in an instant here!
