... cars with VIPs and sponsors riding in the cars. After the team cars drove by the Tour parade came through. The parade is all of the TDF sponsors. This is the fastest parade you will ever see. The cars come racing by and throw all sorts of swag out the window. Pretty crazy!

I was watching the race on TV and it was neat seeing the riders go through part of the route we had just been on. A pro rider named Vincenzo Nibili had a 3 min lead in front of the main group of ...

... surrounding mountains as well as the valley below. The only down side is there was no shade and it was getting very hot.

After eating some lunch we walked around. We went to a small church right by the edge of the cliff. From here you could see part of the road up Lacets de Montvernier. ... or head for home. By now it was almost 2 pm. We left the hotel at
8:30 am so everyone was ready to head in. As we continued our decent we had an
unwelcome surprise. The road we were supposed to take was closed due to
construction. The only way home, take a detour that involved a 2.5 mile climb
at 8-10%. So much for finishing early. By now it was so hot the road tar was
beginning to melt a bit. The melting roads made the ascent seem that much
    harder and ...

... Les Bains....devour the lot on the drive down.

Anyway, I got to the start line on time - dead straight forward, I found my group easily Unfortunately Chris and I were in different start groups I was in group 3 and Chris was in group 12 with a 1hr start difference. A beautiful warm morning, no sign of any clouds or rain....that's better than last year.
