Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region and more importantly is that site of the European Union's Parliament. We passed the enormous buildings that house the 751 members of the EU, which now consists of 28 nations with people who speak 24 different languages. Our US Congress has trouble agreeing; I cannot imagine how the EU functions!

The day that I arrived in Strasbourg, I only walked through the city briefly to meet with Jess for dinner before she left for Amsterdam. Even from that short walk I could tell that this was a city I was going to like. The city center is a beautiful mix of old heritage and some nature, with the trees aand canals, a long with a the modern amenities that you might need.
