        ... colours of the trees and the brilliant green of the grass was amazing.

        E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

        But it’s all an experience, doing car repairs en français. I’m amazed really, that at half past four on a Friday afternoon a) anyone is up for doing any work, and b) they can whip the wheel off, and the tyre, and fix a puncture, all within about 15 minutes.

        We have now returned to Rochefort after a very busy, enjoyable and hectic 6 weeks at home with all the preparations for Sophie and Chris's wedding, but, what a wedding it was, all went to plan.         ... some more and found that I chose a terrible time to visit. Not only was the Chateau closed for security reasons, but the large museum was closed for renovations, and the famous elephant statue was being renovated as well and the elephants didn't exist. At least they made a joke of the fact they were without the 4 w/o butts by making signs with large elephant butts.
