The room in the hotel was clean, spacious and very comfortable. I didn't like the glass door to the bathroom...don't know why they didn't use a wooden door. The hotel was very close to the main shopping area, and close to the Cathedral. The Light Show was on over the Cathedral the night I stayed in the hotel. This was an amazing experience. In fact, I would regard the Light Show as one of the highlights of my 7 week European holiday. I couldn't understand the commentary as it was in French, but it was so worthwhile watching.

We farewell our gracious hostess in Les Andelys this morning. She has provided us with a lovely room decorated in French provincial style and substantial breakfasts for the past three nights. Before breakfast ends however, we meet an older English gentleman and his young Chinese wife.

He enters the room looking every part the UK's version …

We left this morning at 9.30 am after a lovely breakfast (which for John included bacon & eggs). The weather was cool all day today but we only had mizzle for the first hour. After breakfast, we walked up to the Cathedral for a look inside. As I said it is the largest Gothic Cathedral in the World. Our first stop was at a cemetery where Bluey's …

Left the hotel at 6am after another lovely breakfast at la Bouliniere. Drove to Brussels to drop off car. Took about 2 hours including stop for fuel - 71 Euros of diesel. We were to catch the train at 9.15am to Lille Europe. Train eventually left at 10.40am. No way we were going to make our 11.02am connection to Amien. Luckily train had wifi so I …

One of the reasons we went to Amiens was to meet up with some friends, Nelson and Debbie and their sons Elliot and Josh, from Oakland. They were on a France journey that started with Paris, as do many France journeys, and then Amiens to visit us, followed by a gite with a pool near Toulouse, and then Coulloire, on the Atlantic coast. They brought hot California weather with them! As soon as they arrived the temperatures started to climb.
