... provide native trees to projects of reforestation. One of the funding NGOs is the Bund HEidelberg (http://vorort.bund.net/heidelberg/). Part of this atlantic forest was in 93% destroyed.

I am right now in the South of Brazil, colonized mainly by europeans (Germans, italians...) I took a night bus to Floripa (12 h) and there is a good place to visit some beaches in the Santa catarina island.
After these days I will be in the NGO doing the reforestation project, for two weeks. However I have some days before fliying back to Europe. I may be visit Iguaçu falls (Depending on money, of course)
I have some pics from today! New SD card!
After saying goodbye to Curitiba, I caught an afternoon bus to Blumenau. I arrived in the evening after the four hour bus ride and was picked up at the bus station by my host Tatiana whom I met in Dublin this past March. At her house I was warmly greeted by five 3-month old miniature pinscher puppies. I spent hours playing with them over the next few days and I only got peed on once!
Blumenau ...
... I'm thinking ... OKaaayyy? So there are 10 of us guys and were on this school bus ... no seriously, it's a school bus, the bus has "escola" painted on the side of it. An hour into the ride we pick up two more of "the guys" and only then do I finally get it. There's a wedding tomorrow, were all riding god-knows where on a school bus to have (what was told the ladies) German Beer and ...
Blumenau, State of Santa Catarina, Brazil parrisha... the bank to fill our pockets with Brazilian Reals, we made a second trip to Iguacu Falls, this time on the Brazilian side for a better view. I bought a book which has lots of overhead pictures to give you all some perspective of how big these falls actually are. My lunch from yesterday did not sit well and left it on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. We spent the night last night on the bus travelling from the falls to the business city of ...
Curitiba, Brazil vincethepince... Blumenau and Fritz Mueller (colloborator of Darwin) bought the estate in 1897. I am sure that possibilities where definately much bigger than in Germany these days - and I have to admit: they still are. Combined with some beautiful surroundings and a good local economy (investors like the German spirit there) it makes it truely a special place.
Blumenau, Brazil mtantow... When I asked her what fine she was given she explained that it was an imiediate fine (even if innocent!) and if found guilty she would have been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment! But she managed to get out of it - how? By getting the file put to the bottom of a list until after 2 years the statuate of limitations ran out! Only in America eh?!
Florianapolis, Brazil plasticrover... in Brazil, the first thing I realised was that I was back to square one on the language front. Spanish was of very limited use but portuguese just similar enough that if I tried to learn any of it my fragile Spanish would almost definately self destruct. I have decided not to learn any Portuguese and concetrate on holding onto the Spanish I have which means communication is going to be very interesting over the ...
