... drizzly patches. The towns we passed by were gorgeous! We stopped for a quick bike ride in Mantoche (renowned for its bees apparently) then on via two locks to our first port for the night, Pontailler-sur-Saône. A quick spot of fishing as Simon roasts some fresh chestnuts which literally cover the ground here (watch your head!). Alfie says he loves the house boat more than our car and better than a van! After a series of deep breaths, and asking in pidgin French as Pascal our helpful Reception spoke hardly any English and we, seulment un petit peu de Francais the nearest Carrefour was only a 10 min walk away, job done!
Today, therefore turned out to be a housekeeping job as tyres were checked, car tidied and Liz had her hair cut (the Universal Language of ...

... went up stairs and saw the rats and mice - it was really disgusting...and it got more disgusting when the zoo keepers started feeding them. We went into a different place we saw a stuffed tiger. We saw skeletons of animals, the tail of a whale and other creepy things. After a while we got to visit the baby farm where there were pigs, goats, chicken, ducks, guinea pigs and sheep. We got to feed and pat the farm animals.

We went down to the lion and the tigers. When we ...
