... hungry!!!! We finally found a store open and got a nasty sandwich and found a place to eat our lunch in a hurry. We also got another bottle of wine. Eldon keeps hoping we will find a Cave and fill one of our large water bottles with their wine. We aren't far from the Burgundy region, so it's not impossible to find the wine I will like. There were thunderstorms that day and we were lucky enough to find shelter under the eaves of a local tradition mud brick house. A polka dot sign nearby advised us that there were three kilometres to the top of hill climb. The build up to the riders coming through is enormous. An hour an a half before they arrive there is a procession of brightly decorated trucks with people tied to ...

... to the landscape as our route took us alongside beautiful waterways for most of the day. Initially it was the Sãone, a lovely river which we enjoyed until we parted ways not far from Saint-Jean-de-Losne where it met the Rhone-Rhine Canal, then we joined the Doubs. We seemed to be crossing onto different waterways on and off during the day which added to the charm and interest of the day.

This trip has highlighted to us just how big the network of ...
