... while the Germans manned their strong hold and the Great Bunker they took shifts in the bunkers and staying in homes and the hotel. The hotel was the first villa to be liberated on the beach. This is what most of us came for and it was more than I expected. We walked along "Gold Beach" in Arromache, "Omaha Beach" at the American Cemetery and walked through the bunkers at Ponte DuHoc.
