    ... in the Netherlands to follow this practice. Quite beautiful, lovely flowery designs. They wear a very stiff 'kraplap' over their shoulders (see the photo). Also part of the skirt had to be ironed a particular way to result in horizontal creases. In the museum a lady showed us the historical dress of the village. It was very strict with certain material used for weddings or mourning. ...

    ... on a train to Cologne tomorrow (at about 4:30) which is probably a good thing as we're not far off having seen most of the sights that we're interested in. It'll be nice to move on and start exploring somewhere new. We're taking the high speed rail ICE train so we'll also get to experience something that the politicians are making a massive fuss about back at home.

    ... a feeling they were Aussies. Came back after chaining up the bike around the corner and joined Blake (aka 'Chipper') and Gary (the sprawler - but aka 'Hammer'). Both from Adelaide.
    Several Heinekens later (had to get into the swing of things) Stephanie and Andrell FINALLY rocked up at 1530hrs! The carrier had lost his luggage!
    One more beer before the tour, we all went and did our honourable duty.
    Monday night jammed thumb in the door and then tried to pack!

    ... I imagine so many possibilities from the inevitable bridges spanning broad rivers to smaller canal footbridges and impressive highway viaducts alongside train or river routes. I check to see whether there are any Calatravo bridges along the way, having see one of his futuristic works in Seville last year.

    ... we were able to leave our packs at the tourist information center and walk around in search for a Christmas snowglobe. I think we went into every shop in Rovaniemi and came out empty handed every time, oh well maybe we’ll find one after Christmas in another beautiful city we venture too.

    We then found a nice little coffee shop to spent the last half hour or so before the bus took us out to the airport.
