I didn't get off to a very good start today. We especially stayed at a campsite last night rather than an Aire so we could have electricity and free wifi. However when I went to have a shower and most importantly , to wash my hair, on a nippy November morning at 8am there was NO HOT WATER!!! I tried several different showers and let the water run for ...

We awoke to a clear bright but chilly morning, with mist just lifting off the lake.

There is no trace of previous construction as evidenced by a sarcophagus Roman stone found by a winemaker near the old cemetery in 1850. The enclosure of the castle included the Manor House, the Chapel and a well north of the Chapel.

In the 14th century during ...

Checked out of our hotel and caught a taxi to Gare de Lyon. We have been extremely amazed by the 'rafferty road rules'. Wide streets, no marked lanes and you just go wherever, cutting across three lanes of traffic to do a left turn seems to be the norm. Motor bikes and scooters as well as bicycles all have their own rules! Cut in and hope for the best. This taxi ride was our first in Parisian peak hour traffic. Don was sitting in ...
