We arrived in Florianopolis after a rubbish journey from Ilha Grande, involving a boat and then waiting on the road for the next bus that came past, then catching a big bus to Sao Paolo and finding that there were no more direct buses to Florianopolis so getting a bus to Curitiba and then wait for the next bus to Curitiba. They told us not to come but did we listen? no! They told us there would be thunder and rain and that we should go elsewhere, but no we did not listen, and did it pay off? ... then the beaches which is nice. Throughout the entire Floripa, there are heaps of stray dogs which are ussualy far from malnourished and quite cute despite the lingering thought of rabies. ... we needed any help on our trip. We said our goodbyes and as instructed, the driver dropped us off right outside our hostel!!!! The hostel (Alburgue do Pirata) was also really friendly and we really enjoyed our time here. The next day we went on a hike to Lagoina do Leste as recommended by Kiko. ... we usually had some beers and caipirinhas at the backpackers bar, accompanied by a game of texas hold'em. One of the days the backpackers organised a boat trip / boozecruise. Oh what fun we had! So all in all, Florianopolis was a great place for some time-out. Easily a place I could have spent more time at, though time is marching on, and Rio is waiting!
