Schiesstaetteweg 10 Amberg, Bavaria, Germany, 92224, 9621-4830
... 1500, minus the steeples. It wasn’t until 1860 that that they decided to add the twin steeples. However, they did use the original plans from the 1200s. The cathedral has many intricate stained glass windows that are made from small pieces of glass. We diid a little souvenir shopping then went back to the river. This is where the oldest continuous operating restaurant by the same family is located. It was started 900 ...
Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany tucsonjohn... is no way). Now I just walk along, not caring at all what others are saying, most of the time I even miss the English conversations. There are many other things I've learned, but I won't go into those.
Classes are interesting (sometimes). I'm taking 4 for those of you who don't know. German 101 (beginners language) is going ok. It is just hard to learn a different language. I had a test last week and did ok on it. I did learn that I'm going to have to watch myself ...
... to IKEA, however I had a fun experience with getting on the bus before everyone else and getting shut in the door. Not only did my arm almost get detached, but I was alone on a 20 minute bus ride (and the next one didn't leave for 2 hours), the bus driver did finally let me off the bus though, and after a short little walk, I rejoined my friends at the train station (where many of the buses leave ...
Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany ab10... Holy Roman Empire. Regensburg has been home to the ultra-rich Thurn und Taxis family since 1748. (family of Spanish origin, ennobled in 1635 and granted the postal monopoly in the Holy Roman Empire in 1649. At first resident in Frankfurt, the family established itself in 1748 in Regensburg. The postal monopoly continued in the German Confederation, but was terminated in 1866.) The town suffered only very minor ...

... down (a harder walk for me because it was at such an incline and I kept worrying I'd slip) to catch our boat back to Regensburg. The Danau is a very beautiful river, and watching the people boating, swimming, and kayaking in it was very entertaining.
After we returned, a group of us went to get gelato, then headed in separate directions to do our own thing, as most of us were still trying to get settled into our new home. I had a calm, uneventful night.
... which you can see if you lean out my window. I thought I knew exactly where to go, however as I ventured further, I decided I had better turn back while I still had my wits about me.
I arrived in the square where we were all meeting and sat with 2 programmers, Elizabeth and Taylor, to wait for everyone else. Once the "old towners" were all together, including Griffin and Felix, we sat down and began to order, knowing the rest of the gang was on their way. Eventually everyone ...
... we split up to go to our individual rooms (Griffin took me to mine because our buildings are very close and one of our program assistants, Andres, took Tiffany to her room). Griffin lent me a towel so I could (quickly) shower, then we met the rest of the participants that lived in the "old town" like we do, then headed to meet the rest of the group that lives in the newer developed dorms up town as well as the other assistant, Felix. While we ...
Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany ab10... Really good stuff. Of course we had to grab (steal) a couple of the mugs they were serving the beer in. I do really like the local beer options here. Its great to go into a new German town and just order up one of the beers that they brew in that town, basically just for that town's consumption. Off to Prague tomorrow. Weather has been pretty poor, hoping it gets better for some better light for pictures. Will be taking some in Prague and Vienna regardless and posting them up.
