... at a very leisurely pace. Rapallo is a place we have visited before,.. in our 2000 trip,.. and we wanted to re-kindle the memories of that time so long ago. Well,.. not a lot has changed,.. but, being August, it is very, very busy. We found our campsite from 2000, for old times sake,.. and decided it was a better option to keep moving towards Genoa. A multi-car pile-up forced us off the autostrada, right into the heart of Genoa. It was a case of,.. get in,.. and get ...

We left several hours later with just croissants and pain au chocolats in our stomach. The climb up to the col was a relentless 17.5km at 7%, so blood ...

It's been a wet start and finish to our first wedding anniversary today. Best intentions for an early start we're delayed by heavy rain this morning, but we made the first 50km before lunch in great time and had a big lunch outside the supermarket in Saint Michel de Maurienne. We then climbed Col du Telegraphe and the rain started again just as we arrived into camp in Valoire. Currently tucked in our tent, enjoying looking through the photos so far while the rain continues ...

... to go up the hill a bit to watch them struggle a bit, and to see what we would be like the following day. We saw them and before you knew it, the break away group had come and gone. Then a couple of minutes later the pack was there and then they were gone too. There were a few riders between the breakaway and the pack, but it would have been really horrible for these guys. For before the breakaway, you get lots of cars ...
