... in this village we pulled in behind a line
of cars waiting for what we assumed must have been a traffic light controlling
some road works on the narrow piece of road.
After admiring the gardens in the houses beside us for several minutes
we suddenly realised that the cars had no drivers and we had been waiting
behind parked cars!! It’s sometimes hard to know with the narrow streets and
some of the parking whether they are queuing or not.
We visited a beautiful manor house called Newby Hall on Sunday - the gardens are extensive and stunning, but also on the grounds out front a tractor exhibition was taking place and there were literally thousands attending - the queues to enter and exit were horrific.
We ended our stay in the dales with dinner in the Grassington pub called the Devonshire Arms - one of the many beautiful little villages dotted around this fantastic area in the ...
... skyline all lit up - it was something like fairyland but a tad bigger!! The ship took us down the Hudson River to get close up to the Statue of Liberty which looks fabulous lit up at night. We travelled a little further as far as Battery Park and then turned around for the return trip and left the ship by 2.00am. By the time we arrived back to the hotel it was 2.30am - we were very tired and glad to be able to sleep in the next ...

Manchester trips this month, the next is on June 29 for the Robbie Williams
concert. Tomorrow we have a long day travelling through London and to YHA South
Downs where we are taking a First Aid training course! Next week it looks like
I will be going to London to a company meeting…so that should be interesting!!!
