No Leprechaun sightings yet...

Today we arrived in Ireland! Both of our planes were a little late, but Kristin and I were lucky enough to find each other in the Dublin airport. I had a momentary freak out as I realized we did not come up with a back-up plan in case either one of us had cancelled flight, or missed a flight, or anything of the sort...and Kristin's plane was quite late, and I could not remember what city she was coming from, but all was well, because we did find each other.
We took a cab to our hotel, and ...

Full Day in Ireland, and Yes, it Rained.

It rained today, which was really no shocker, as it has rained EVERYWHERE that we have been on our trip. The only bummer was that we payed for the city tour on an open-roofed double-decker bus. Why would we not just sit inside the bus, you ask? Well, just as we could handle biking in the rain in Scotland, a little rain on the top of the bus in Dublin would do us no harm. Washingtonians were built for days like this.
We did not wake up until about 11:00am today, so we got some GOOD sleep, w...

We made it to Dublin!!!

Hey everyone! We made it safely to Dublin, the flight wasn't too bad, it seemed to go fast. Sarah and I watched the sun set and Rise within two hours of each other which was kind of cool to see! We flew over canada which was also cool, it is cold and rainy here :( and we are excited to get to Manchester and stay with Lisa and her family! We all broke down and took a nap for two and a half hours got up and are now walking around Dublin City Center. We ate at a Indian Resturant that a local tol...

Day 1: Flew to Dublin

Well, it's finally happened! We're in Europe! Becky drove us to the Chicago last night so we could catch our first plane. As soon as Becky dropped us off it hit us...we are all alone! Everything went very smoothly. We made our first currency exchange and boy was that a shocker! We got to see the sunset and rise within two hours of each other. That was pretty cool. It was hard to sleep on the plane so when we landed, we were all very sleepy! We had to wait in a line (que) a long time to enter ...

Dublin!!

Hello! We arrived safely in Dublin this morning, about an hour late and only a little bit of a rough flight....not to worry, the anxiety meds did wonders! haha. We found a hotel pretty easily and are having a great time exploring a little at a time. We are all pretty tired, but are fighting sleep for now! We are hoping to make it until 8 or 9 tonight. We took a little cat nap at the hotel and then went to supper. People have been really great about helping the crazy lost Americans!! Tomorrow,...

... the old library where the book of kells were on display.  It was really neat , I mean the library was something out of harry potter, and old books are cool and all, but I just couldn't justify paying so much money to go into a library and not be able to take pictures.  It was a little disappointing.  Oh, and the UCC campus is much prettier, too J  We then traveled to the post office where I wanted to take a picture of the cu Culiann statue to prove that I had learned ...

Day 8 Dublin, Ireland

... swirling motifs typical of Insular art. Figures of humans, animals and mythical beasts together with intricate knot work and interlacing patterns in vibrant colors enliven the manuscript's pages. Many of these minor decorative elements are imbued with Christian symbolism and so further emphasize the themes of the major illustrations. End of history lesson, you can Google Bok of Kells for more info and I suggest you do, because it is a very interesting read. The security ...

Another day of rain in Dublin

... the hotel. ------------------------- We headed off the next day back to Edinburgh. Once again, not many people at the airport and we were back before we knew it. Getting back earlier meant we could relax before work as usual (well, a new job for me) the next day. ------------------------ The morning before we left for Dublin, we had the sad news of my Pop's sudden (but peaceful) passing, although devasted ...

Ireland and Augie :)

... And every so often we`d be walking down the street and id here aug say to himself, `were really doin it harry´..for all you dumb and dumber fans out there. I on the other hand was suprisingly somewhat grounded and comfortable. I think me being on my own in Belgium for the first three weeks really helped me settle in for the summer. I was in no hurry to do anything. The hardest part for me was getting to Ireland and finding Aug ...
